The EPA reports that indoor air is commonly 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside. The return grille above your head is the visible tell. When dust is built up along those louvers, it means it is circulating through the space rather than being captured, and it settles right back onto every surface your crew just wiped. Vents and grilles are almost never written into a standard janitorial scope unless somebody asks for them. Worth checking yours.

ISSA estimates commercial carpet takes on roughly one pound of soil per square yard per week, and double that in bad weather. A vacuum lifts what sits on top. The grit that works down into the backing is what cuts the fiber and takes years off the floor, and that only comes out with hot water extraction.
If your carpet looks flat and grey in the traffic lanes and clean everywhere else, that is not wear, that is soil.

In tracer studies, a virus placed on a single door handle spread to between 40 and 60 percent of surfaces in an office within two to four hours.
Hand washing works right up until somebody grabs the exit handle on the way out. Handles, push plates, and dispenser levers are the surfaces that move contamination through an entire building, and they are exactly what a quick restroom wipe down skips.

University of Arizona study that swabbed nearly 5,000 office surfaces, 27 percent of keyboards came back with heavy contamination. Researchers also found that bacteria on desk surfaces climb through the day and peak right after lunch, because people eat at their desks and almost nobody wipes one down.
Here is the part most facility managers do not realize: personal desks are excluded from nearly every janitorial contract by default, usually for privacy and liability reasons. Your crew is not skipping it, they were never asked. Worth reading your scope to see where that line sits.

We remember the passengers and the flight crews.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, and paramedics who climbed toward the danger while everyone else ran from it.
We remember the people who never came home, and the families who have carried it every day since.
