Félicitations, Amy!

We are thrilled to announce Amy Hausmann as the new Executive Director of the Maine Arts Commission! With 25 years of experience in the arts, including her leadership at the Olana State Historic Site and roles at the New York Transit Museum and MTA Arts & Design, Amy is a perfect fit to lead us forward.

Amy's dedication to making art and culture accessible to all, combined with her innovative spirit, will be invaluable as we continue to champion the arts in Maine.

In her own words: "Maine’s landscape, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant artistic community inspire me. I look forward to working with the team and our partners to nurture, celebrate, and promote all artistic disciplines, fostering collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity to ensure the arts flourish across our communities.”

Join us in welcoming Amy to Maine! She will be starting with the commission in August. 🎨✨

It’s such a pleasure to share news about “Imprints: The Films of Louise Bourque”, a book that honours Louise Bourque – a talented artist, outstanding experimental filmmaker, and my friend. “Imprints” is a collection of essays, interviews, ephemera, and personal reflections that chart Louise’s life and work (available on Amazon). Her works often involve the physical manipulation of emulsion, with the content of the work stemming from a different type of imprint, namely, that of memory and trauma, and her aesthetics are imprinted on the work of contemporary filmmakers dealing with memorial processes and abstract imagery.

I'm happy to announce that a major federal application I wrote with MaineDOT for the St. John Valley Cultural Byway and Fish River Scenic Byway received NATIONAL designation from the U.S. Department of Transportation. As a National Scenic Byway, we now join other outstanding byways throughout the nation. This is a culmination of many years of cultural and community development in the St. John Valley region. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
