This week while scouting in the Upper Mississippi River Valley, we found evidence of insect activity. Lepidopteran species, e.g., leafrollers, green fruit worm, will munch on leaves and cause damage to developing flowers. The second picture here is a tarnished plant bug sting. As fruitlets begin to develop, these stings will enlarge and can cause the fruit to become deformed.
With warmer temperatures, we can expect to see insects becoming more active and further feeding damage to occur.
