Almost five years of being in the web design industry and I've witnessed “for now websites” sticking around a lot longer than intended. The DIY website you put together when you first started up is something you said you'd come back to. But before you know it, weeks turn into months, and even once it's done, it doesn't quite feel like it represents you the way you were hoping.
Meanwhile, someone's landing on that site and deciding in seconds whether they trust you enough to reach out. That's a lot of weight for a DIY homepage to carry!
I'm not saying DIY is wrong. If your budget is low, or you genuinely enjoy building it yourself, do it. At the same time, it's worth knowing what it actually costs before you commit to it: the time, the missed opportunities, and often, an eventual redo down the line.
If you'd rather skip straight to the version that actually works for you, that's what I'm here for.
