Promega summer interns take on projects with real impact, not just busywork. From optimizing bacterial detection protocols to consolidating 20,000+ Safety Data Sheets, this year's cohort delivered results that matter to the business while building skills that will support their future career paths. Meet four of our 2026 interns and hear what they learned:

Four interns share their experiences and lessons from spending the summer at Promega.

Diseases like frontotemporal dementia begin long before symptoms appear. But until now, researchers did not have a good way to watch those first moments happen in human neurons.

A new Science Advances study describes lab-grown neurons that develop tau pathology on their own, in the right order, and report their tau levels as a simple luminescent light signal. That combination makes it practical to screen for drugs that could stop the damage early.

Lab-grown neurons that develop tau pathology naturally and emit light signals offer a new model for drug screening.

A virus that was once limited to the Amazon Rainforest is now spreading into unfamiliar territory. Oropouche fever has reached Brazil's Atlantic Forest, and researchers wanted to know: is the insect driving transmission already in Brazil? See what their findings were and what new methods they explored on Promega Connections. https://ow.ly/HGqe50ZC2ws

Coral reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor yet support a quarter of all marine life on the planet. While rising ocean temperatures bleach coral reefs and threaten that ecosystem, Coral Gardeners are fighting back with science, resilience, and a growing global mission. Read their story on Promega Connections:

How one young islander turned to scientific research and founded a nonprofit with a mission to restore the world's dying coral reefs

Your CAR-T cells are killing. But can you prove how much, in a way that holds up under regulatory review?

Most potency assays detect killing. Far fewer can actually quantify it. The difference tends to surface at scale-up, CDMO transfer, or IND-enabling studies, when the capacity to absorb a pivot is lowest.

We built a 5-question potency confidence check for CAR-T teams. Two minutes. No login. You get a scored result and guidance matched to where your program actually stands.

You've had food stuck in your teeth during a conversation you thought was going well. No alarm. No signal. Just complete confidence in an incomplete picture.

ADC development has a version of this problem. The cytotoxicity readout is correct. It's also an aggregate, and an aggregate can't tell you which mechanisms produced it, which ones have quietly changed, or which ones stopped contributing without anyone knowing.

Learn more on our blog.

You've walked into a meeting with spinach in your teeth. Your ADC program might be doing something similar right now.

Flesh-eating limestone. A brain molecule named for bliss. An "uncuttable" atom that got cut anyway. Scientific names aren't just labels. They're time capsules, sealed with whatever someone understood, believed, or got wrong the moment they named it. Learn more on our blog.

Flesh-eating limestone. A ceremonial Aztec mushroom. An uncuttable atom. How names are time capsules of humanity.

The FIFA World Cup isn't just a sporting event — it's a public health surveillance opportunity. Scientists are using wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) to detect pathogens before a single person reports symptoms. No mass testing required.

Learn how wastewater surveillance works — and why it matters beyond the World Cup.

Wastewater samples detects disease before an outbreak. Explore wastewater-based epidemiology, the sampling types, and Promega's support kits.

The relationship between calcium levels, platelet behavior and cancer cell invasion is not well understood. A recent study from George Washington University have found a critical piece of the puzzle. Read more about the calcium-platelet connection in our latest blog.

Most cancer-related deaths from solid tumors aren’t caused by the primary tumor itself, but are the result of metastasis. Metastasis is the process by which cancer cells break away from the primary tumor, travel through the bloodstream and establish new tumors in distant tissues. This is a complex...
