We’re packaging engineers who deliver breakthroughs that inspire better engagement between people and products.

We do this by providing better product differentiation, protection and accessibility. Placon, headquartered in Madison, WI, designs and manufactures unique thermoformed and injection molded plastic packaging products that are built with the end-user in mind. Founded in 1966, Placon operates with the same Midwestern values and engineering spirit that the company was built on. Within the medical device, food and retail markets, Placon offers true custom-designed packaging and creative, off-the-shelf solutions with capabilities from design, prototyping, tool design and build, thermoforming, injection molding, pre-print, labeling and other decorating services. Known as one of the top 20 thermoformers in the US according to Plastics News, Placon provides inspired packaging designs that are attractive, protective, functional and intuitive. Sustainably-minded, the company built a recycling and extrusion facility that takes discarded PET ( #1 resin ID code) bottles and thermoforms and transforms them into new packaging.

Placon is proud to welcome the New West YMCA and Access Clinic to our neighborhood! This new YMCA location will boast facilities like an indoor pool, gym, health and wellness clinic space, and childcare facilities to better support our local community. The new YMCA location is just around the corner from our Madison facilities and will be a huge asset to our Placon team. We’re happy to help contribute to such a meaningful location that will help families for years to come, from early childhood care to after school activities and beyond. Special thanks to the Sub-Zero Group Foundation for leading the campaign for this monumental build. We look forward to seeing the completed facility in early 2028.
