Today was a big day for our department!

We’re excited to announce the delivery of our brand-new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs), valued at over $200,000, made possible through a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG).

These new SCBAs replace our current packs, which are approaching the end of their recommended 15-year service life. SCBAs are one of the most critical pieces of equipment a firefighter wears. They provide clean, breathable air in smoke-filled and hazardous environments, allowing our crews to safely perform rescues, fight fires, and protect our community.

This grant allowed us to make this significant investment without placing the financial burden on our local taxpayers, saving our community’s hard-earned tax dollars while ensuring our firefighters have the safest and most reliable equipment available.

We’re incredibly grateful to FEMA for investing in the safety of our firefighters and the residents we serve. This is a perfect example of how pursuing grant funding helps us continue providing the highest level of emergency service while being responsible stewards of public funds.

We look forward to getting these new SCBAs placed into service and continuing to protect our community with the best equipment

🚒 There’s no substitute for hands-on training.

Today, our crews had the opportunity to train on heavy rescue techniques using a donated school bus and several vehicles. These realistic training scenarios help prepare us for the types of emergencies we hope never happen—but are ready for if they do.

A big thank you goes out to Joe White and the Madison Bus Garage for donating the school bus, and to Kings Towing for providing the vehicles. Your generosity gives our firefighters the chance to train in ways that simply aren’t possible without community support, and we truly appreciate it.

Heavy rescue calls can be some of the most challenging incidents we respond to. By training with real vehicles, our crews can practice the skills, communication, and teamwork needed to safely and efficiently rescue patients when every second matters.

We’re grateful for the support of our community and remain committed to continually training so we’re always ready to provide the best service possible.

Thank you again to Joe White, the Madison Bus Garage, and Kings Towing for helping us invest in the safety of our community.

We hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend. Just a friendly reminder that consumer grade fireworks are still prohibited in both the township and village. Leave the fireworks to the professionals and have a safe weekend!

We took advantage of the hot weather today and got our crews out on the lake for some water rescue training.

When emergencies happen on the water in Madison and Perry, we’re equipped with a Sea-Doo and a drone to help us respond quickly and safely. Training days like this help ensure we’re ready when our communities need us most.

A big thank you to Lake County Special Teams for assisting us with a tree into a house this morning. One of the many skills they have is shoring unstable structures.

Congratulations to our 3 new full time members!
