It is “Fall Sunset Season” here in the Grand River Valley! This photo was taken on Friday 10/2 by “Silver Crest Super Fan” (SCSF) Anita of the view from our upstairs room. The next morning, we harvested the Gerald Smith Cabernet Sauvignon here at the W**ery. Let’s hope the weather cooperates for several more of these views before the season is over!

The new releases of 2024 Chardonnay and Meritage Rose’ are now in the tasting room just in time for Fall Sunset Season in the Grand River Valley!

The Chardonnay is made in a crisp, Burgundian style with flavors and aromas of Green Apples, Yellow Apples and Baked Bread.

The Bordeaux-style Meritage Rose’ has aromas and flavors of Raspberry, Cranberry, and Wild Strawberry. It gets its dark color and flavor from harvesting the grapes when they are as ripe as they would be in order to make a “big red” w**e, crushing the grapes, and then sitting “on the skins” for more than 24 hours before it is pressed and fermented. It drinks like a Rose’, but has enough color and tannin so it will improve with a little bit of age. Is it a “dark rose’”?... Is it a “light red w**e”? Who knows? We don’t really have a word for it in English. You will just have to decide for yourself!

Just like last year, the weather forecast for Monday looks awesome. In Honor of this PERFECT weather (on Monday, anyway), we are going to be open from Noon to 6pm on Monday, September 7. You just can’t squander a day like Monday, so pack a picnic, and come on out to the Grand River Valley!

… and speaking of Pear W**e, the previous version of Rosie’s “Haruzhka” Pear W**e is in the Tasting Room right now!

It tastes like…well…Pear. However, it also has some subtle baking spice notes including cinnamon and nutmeg. I like it!

This year’s version has just about finished fermentation, and I believe it has a good future in front of it!

Well, Harvest and W**emaking have started... about 10 days earlier than we expected! The Pears from Rosie’s orchard are getting squeezed today, and w**emaking starts tonight!

I thought we had more time!

We were on Kickin’ It With Kenny on Fox 8 News Thursday Morning. Kenny was Kickin’ It while we were setting up for Vintage Ohio.

Our 2021 Cabernet Franc brought home its final medal last week – a Double Gold from the Finger Lakes International W**e Competition. I thought it would be a good time to take the Cabernet Franc “Family Photo”! Here are the Francs which were in compeitions since we started that kind of thing. The trend is up!

The 2021 Cabernet Franc has only been released for a couple of months, so there should be plenty of time to enjoy it if you haven’t tried it yet. The good news is the more recent vintages could be even better!
