Please join us in welcoming Sam Kalscheur to the SunPeak team as our new Field Operations Assistant!

Sam plays an important role in supporting the coordination and logistics that keep our commercial solar projects running smoothly, serving as a key link between the office and the field. He helps with everything from organizing warehouse and yard operations and improving inventory systems to supporting fleet management and ensuring crews have the materials and equipment they need on site.

With a background in construction and hands-on field experience, Sam brings strong organizational skills, a great work ethic, and a positive attitude to the team. He enjoys staying busy and contributing wherever he can to help projects move forward safely and efficiently

Please join us in welcoming Julia Herkert to the SunPeak team!

We had the pleasure of getting to know Julia and her impressive work ethic during her summer internship with us last year. In December, she completed her graduate studies, earning a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. We’re excited to have her back in a full-time capacity as a Project Developer.

Julia brings a strong technical foundation and renewable energy expertise to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with minors in Mathematics and Political Science, from Butler University. At Michigan, her graduate coursework and research focused on energy infrastructure and emerging clean energy technologies, with a special interest in electric vehicle systems.

In her new role, Julia supports new project development by conducting energy modeling and analysis, creating preliminary system designs, drafting proposals, and consulting with customers on commercial solar projects.

We look forward to working with Julia and the contributions she will make to our project development efforts.

Check out the Woodman's Sports & Convention Center in the City of Janesville, WI - it's a new, state-of-the-art hub for athletics, meetings, and events that’s also contributing clean energy to the local community.

SunPeak was proud to partner again with Alliant Energy, the Center’s utility, to install a rooftop solar system in support of Alliant’s Customer-Hosted Renewables program. The system is expected to generate approximately 650,000 kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year, helping meet the energy needs of Alliant customers across the region.

Projects like this show how thoughtful building design and renewable energy can work together to deliver long-term value for the community. Congratulations to all involved!

Shining a light on sustainable schools: SunPeak was proud to be part of Edwardsville Schools district-wide initiative to add solar to 10 of its facilities, totaling 3.8 MW of clean energy capacity.

SunPeak was proud to help Lowe’s expand its clean energy initiatives with the recent completion of seven rooftop solar projects across Illinois.

With installations in Danville, Decatur, Lake in the Hills, Machesney Park, Moline, Quincy, and Vernon Hills, this portfolio adds more than 6 megawatts of solar capacity to Lowe's retail stores and will generate 7,500 MWh of clean electricity annually, which is enough to power about 700 homes each year.

By investing in on-site solar, Lowe’s is reducing its operating costs and is making meaningful progress toward its commitment to cut operational greenhouse gas emissions by more than 40% by 2030.

Congratulations to Lowe's on this portfolio of solar projects and for leading the way with smart, sustainable business operations!

🌞 The Sleep Inn & Suites in South Jacksonville, IL has gone solar!

Working with SunPeak, the hotel added a rooftop solar PV system with 300 panels that now generate clean electricity to offset 30% of its energy needs each year. The project lowers operating costs while showcasing the hotel’s commitment to sustainable operations for its guests and community.

Through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Sleep Inn was able to make the switch to solar without upfront investment, all while securing predictable energy rates for the future.

We were proud to partner with Lake County, IL on its new Regional Operations and Communications Facility (ROC), a state-of-the-art emergency response hub in the Chicagoland area.

To support the ROC’s Net Zero energy design, SunPeak delivered a 1,133 kWdc ground-mounted solar PV system that works alongside geothermal and other energy-efficient technologies in the building. Over the next 30 years, the solar system will generate more than 38 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity, significantly reducing long-term operating costs and strengthening the county’s energy resilience.

This project showcases how forward-looking communities can combine renewable energy and efficiency to meet critical power needs while advancing sustainability. Way to go, Lake County!

SunPeak designed and installed a 734 kWdc rooftop system for the Cook County courthouse in Markham, Illinois. With nearly 1800 solar panels, this system will generate millions of kilowatt hours of clean energy over its lifetime, reducing operating costs and supporting the County’s long-term sustainability goals.

Proud to be part of this project and to partner with UAM Power and Cook County to advance clean energy in the Chicagoland area!
