Governor Kathy Hochul issued a Special Citation recognizing the 50th Anniversary of the Willowbrook Consent Judgement and Decree, which marked the beginning of the end of institutionalization of people with developmental disabilities. We will never forget the injustices that happened at Willowbrook, which led to the creation of our agency. We remain steadfast in our commitment to uphold the inclusion, integration, and independence of people with developmental disabilities and provide them with the necessary supports and services that help them thrive.
