A difficult conversation can feel uncomfortable.
So we delay it.
We soften the message.
We hope the problem will resolve itself.
But avoiding the conversation rarely makes the problem smaller.
Emotional intelligence gives us the ability to pause, understand our own reactions, consider the other person's perspective, and choose how we respond.
The goal isn't to make difficult conversations easy.
It's to make them more productive.
