Wednesday morning, Squad Company 29 and Deputy Chief 29 were alerted to the scene of a fatal collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on the White Horse Pike in the Company 29 first due local. Additional assistance was provided by Squad Company 272 from the Lawnside Fire Company.
The Squad Co. supported the on-scene EMS and police department resources, while also managing multiple hazards at the scene. Additionally, fire department crews provided assistance to the CCPO Crash Response Investigation Team during the initial phases of the investigation.
Magnolia firefighters operated on scene for four hours before returning available.▪️

On May 29, 2024, at approximately 9:54 a.m., the Magnolia Police Department, NJ was dispatched to the area of the 500 block of North White Horse Pike for a motor vehicle crash involving pedestrians. The northbound right lane of the White Horse Pike was shut down for repair work and was an active work zone. A vehicle hit a parking curb, a bush, and struck four workers from New Jersey American Water who were working in the work zone. The vehicle continued driving and struck two other vehicles. One vehicle was traveling north in the left lane of the White Horse Pike, and the second vehicle was traveling southbound in the left lane of the White Horse Pike.
One male New Jersey American Water worker was pronounced deceased at the scene, a second male New Jersey American Water worker was transported to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition, and two other male workers were transported to Jefferson Hospital in Stratford with minor injuries. The female driver of the impacting vehicle and two other drivers were transported to Jefferson Hospital with minor injuries.
This investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
