Here's what we're tackling: downspouts, full drainage system, sump pump, dimple mat, full encapsulation, dehumidifier, and spray foam on the rim joists.

You can see the standing water in these photos. There's even a waterline on the foundation wall showing just how long this has been an issue. This crawl space has been wet, dark, and nasty for a long time.

In a couple of days it's going to be bright, clean, dry, and completely transformed.

Started digging the trench on a drainage job in Danville today.

Before we were even halfway around the perimeter, it filled with water.

That's your answer right there. No fancy diagnosis needed. When the ground around your foundation is holding that much water, it's not a maybe - it's a need.

We dropped into this crawl space in Danville and every single duct was sweating. Moisture dripping off the outside of the pipes, collecting on the floor, adding to the standing water that was already there.

Most homeowners never see this. They just notice the musty smell upstairs and have no idea this is what's causing it.

If your home has a crawl space and it's been a while since anyone looked, these are the signs to watch for.

Your air conditioning creates cold ductwork.

If your crawl space humidity is high enough, warm air hits those cold ducts and moisture condenses on the outside. Just like a cold drink sweating on a hot day.

That water drips down and collects on your crawl space floor. We call it raining from the inside. And it happens in a lot of Central Illinois homes.

Not every crawl space needs everything replaced.

Sometimes the right solution is knowing what can stay, what needs to be repaired, and what actually needs to be added.

We’re not there to replace perfectly usable equipment just to make the job bigger. We look at what’s already working, fix what isn’t, and recommend only what the space actually needs.

Because a good crawl space solution isn’t about doing the most work.

It’s about doing the right work.

Day two and this crawl space is a completely different place.

Crawl seal down on the floor and walls. Dehumidifier hung and running. Old sump pump reconnected properly with a check valve installed - something that had been missing and causing problems.

We didn't replace that sump pump. A lot of companies would've. It's an easy upsell when you're already down there and the homeowner can't see what you're looking at. But the pump itself was fine. It had just come apart and was missing a check valve. So we fixed what needed fixing and left it at that.

That's how we operate. You're not going to get sold something you don't need. If it can be fixed, we fix it. Simple as that.

We're on a job in Champaign today and the first thing Ryan did wasn't open the crawl space - it was check the downspouts.

Most people don't connect their gutters to their crawl space moisture problems. But the water has to go somewhere. And if it's dumping right next to your foundation, a lot of it ends up underneath your home.

Downspout extensions are one of the simplest, most affordable parts of a complete drainage solution. But they only work if they're installed correctly and follow the natural grade of your yard.

That's why we walk the outside of every property before we ever head inside.
