This evening, members of the Mahopac Vol. Fire Dept. conducted a drill to practice water rescue skills. Members practiced donning water rescue equipment including cold water submersion suits, life vests and various personal safety and self rescue equipment. Also rope throw techniques were reviewed and demonstrated. Additional familiarization segments were conducted on use of the rescue boat.

08/15/26. On 08/12/26 members of MVFD attended the the Westchester County Emergency Services BEFO / IFO graduation to support and congratulate our own Madelyn Guerra.

Madelyn has been serving our department assigned to the EMS company as an emergency medical technician prior to enrolling in the firefighting class. We wish her all the best in her pursuit to continue her education and skill set within the department.

Today crews from MVFD Fire & EMS once again assisted the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation with their annual Muddy Puddles Mess Fest event held at Camp KIWI.

Crews were on hand to hose off all the children and adults after taking the challenge of jumping into the mud pit. Children also spend the day doing multiple stations of fun activities.

EMS crews were on hand as a safety precaution should anyone have an emergency that required attention.

MVFD has been involved with this event fundraiser for children’s cancer research for many years and the members look forward to it every year.

It is carnival time and MVFD once again had the honor of hosting its annual special event for Parkside Preschool, and Mahopac Central School District children.

Every year MVFD makes special time for the children with special needs that may not be able to handle the large crowds we get on our regular carnival operating hours.

Every year MVFD requests members set aside additional time for the one daytime event from 11am to 1pm so we can welcome the children on their level. Members make time to welcome the children and serve them a lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers after they had time to ride some of the rides that are made available to them to enjoy.

This has been a great partnership between MVFD and the Mahopac School District for many years and the members look forward to this day during carnival season every year. We hope everyone that attended enjoyed themselves.
