The Ideal vs. The Real

One of the most honest parts of my conversation with Adam, together with Sean Murphy, was when we talked about the transition of leadership within a family business.

Adam described the challenge of moving from what you think leadership should look like to dealing with the realities of how your decisions affect other people.

He talked about wrestling with relational tensions, becoming more aware of the impact his decisions could have on others, and learning to navigate the difference between the ideal and the real.

I think that's something every leader eventually discovers.

Leadership isn't just about having a vision.

It's about understanding the wake your decisions create and taking responsibility for the people affected by them.

You Don't Inherit Respect. You Earn It.

One of the parts of my conversation with Adam, alongside my co-host Sean Murphy, that really stayed with me was his perspective on growing up in a family business.

Adam wasn't interested in simply being “the boss's son.” He wanted to earn the respect of the people around him through his work, his integrity, and his actions.

That's an important distinction.

A title can give you authority.

Your actions determine whether people trust you with it.

Adam's story is a great reminder that leadership isn't something you simply receive. It's something you build over time.

A Day of Connection, Learning, and Empowerment

On August 22, Aurora InfoTech was proud to participate as a featured speaker at “Unlocked: Your Future Starts Now,” a career networking event hosted by Empowered Girls Inc. in partnership with the City of Orlando.

The event brought together middle school, high school, and college students with industry professionals to explore career pathways, build connections, and gain real-world insight into their futures.

Our team, Roy Richardson, Co-Founder and CISO, and Shaddik Flores, Cybersecurity & IT Technician, had the opportunity to lead an interactive session covering Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, online safety, and careers in technology.

What made the day especially meaningful was seeing students engage, ask questions, and explore possibilities they may not have considered before. We were especially grateful to connect with a young attendee already pursuing a future in Cybersecurity.

For Aurora InfoTech, community involvement is about more than showing up. It’s about sharing knowledge, creating opportunities, and helping the next generation see what’s possible.
