Happy Memorial Day. We pay tribute to the generations of brave men and women that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you is never enough, never will be. We realize that if it weren’t for their brave actions, none of this would be possible. The American Dream is still alive and obtainable because of them. We give our promise that their passing was for purpose. We live in the greatest nation in the world and it should our purpose to keep that promise.

We had the pleasure of having the preschoolers from Pelican Gatherings down this week. This marks the 7th year we’ve been able to share our farm with the young preschool students . This year, these kiddos were able to tour our processing facility, storage, watched how potatoes are harvested and of course got to dig and take home some Baley Trotman potatoes along with a bag of fresh potato chips.

This year we had the help of Markus Trotman with our tour. He explained what part if the shed we were at and what happens while the potatoes are processed in those particular areas. He did great.

We had a blast! Looking forward to year 8!

We’re wrapping up garlic harvest but that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down! We’re chopping and incorporating our green manure/biofumigant mustard crop.

We’re growing about 500 acres of mustard for multiple purposes. We’re building organic matter in the soil with the amount of material being added to the soil, contributing to the overall health of the soil. This particular mustard, as it breaks down, acts as a biofumigant that reduces nematode and disease numbers.
