“I have more adaptation to light and darkness.” – Nancy

After living with retinitis pigmentosa for 31 years, Nancy shares her story and why she remains hopeful for the future after participating in Ocugen’s OCU400 clinical trial.

What makes OCU400 different?

Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) can be caused by more than 150 genetic mutations. OCU400 is designed to address multiple RP mutations through a potential one-time therapy.

Follow us as we advance OCU400 toward a planned BLA submission this year.

Promising early safety and efficacy results continue to reinforce the potential of OCU410ST for Stargardt disease.

At 12 months, treated eyes demonstrated a 54% reduction in atrophic lesion growth, while 100% of evaluable treated eyes showed stabilization or improvement in visual function and achieved a +6 letter gain in visual acuity.

What is Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP)?

RP is a group of rare, inherited eye diseases that cause progressive vision loss over time. People with RP may have trouble seeing at night and can gradually lose their side vision. More than 150 genetic mutations can cause RP, making it difficult to treat.

OCU400, Ocugen's lead novel modifier gene therapy, is designed to address over 98% mutations associated with RP with a single, one-time treatment. By supporting retinal cells, OCU400 has the potential to preserve and restore vision for people living with RP, for whom no treatment currently exists.

Awareness starts with a conversation. Share this post to help educate others about RP.

What is Stargardt disease?

Stargardt disease is a rare inherited eye disease that slowly takes away central vision, making it harder to read, recognize faces, and see the world clearly over time. It affects the retina, the light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye that helps us process what we see.

Ocugen is studying a potential gene therapy, OCU410ST, with the hope of slowing the progression of disease and helping protect vision for the future. Every step forward brings hope to individuals and families affected by inherited retinal diseases.

Susan, an OCU410ST clinical trial participant, shares her experience after treatment for Stargardt disease, reporting stabilization in the treated eye while the untreated eye continued to decline.

Now being studied in the Phase 2/3 GARDian3 pivotal confirmatory trial, OCU410ST is designed to slow or potentially even reverse disease progression.
