It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dad, James Franklin Morning. Jimmy passed away peacefully at home on September 29.
He was a dad, grandpa, brother, friend, coach, and so much more to so many people.
Our dad was one of a kind… hardworking, caring, passionate, and always a little goofy. He had a way of making people laugh, bringing people together, and reminding us not to take life too seriously.
Coaching was a huge part of who he was. He cared deeply about the people he coached and the community around him, but more than anything, he carried with him the fun, freedom, and culture of skiing. He shared that passion with so many people, and we know a piece of him will live on every time someone he influenced clicks into a pair of skis, laughs with friends on the mountain, or simply remembers to enjoy the ride. You might’ve heard this before if you were coached by Jimmy, but here it is one more time: “Smooth, high and early.”
We are heartbroken to lose him, but incredibly grateful for the years we had, the memories we made, the stories we’ll continue to tell, and all the laughter we shared.
There is comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with our mom.
We love you, Dad. We’ll miss your stories, your humor, your passion, and that unmistakable Jimmy spirit more than words can say.
Funeral and memorial service details will be shared at a later date.
