I’ll be honest, garages are HARD! Just like basements, they are used as catch alls for everything that we don’t need or want inside. This client already had some organizing tools set up and an amazing set of old lockers. Part of my proposal was to paint the lockers and a few of the existing shelves black to help create a cohesive look. Believe it or not, colors make a huge difference when it comes too organizing. If you have too many colors in the same space, it distracts you from being able to focus and put things back where they belong. I also added a sports rack and hung ball holders on the wall. For the lockers, I placed items that they kids use in the bottom lockers so that they could get what they need on their own. And of course, all lockers were labeled with magnetic labels and can be changed if the things being stored in the lockers changes over time. This client works on the road during the week and needs to unload his car for weekend activities with the kids. I wanted to make sure he had a designated space to keep the garage floor clean. It was a long day with some weather issues but, overall, the space turned out functionally and visually appealing, which are always my two main goals!
