Hey everyone! As some of you know, I run a business and also coach other businesses. One of the trickiest parts of both? Finding the right people.
Just not long ago, I had a situation that really made me think. I had a great employee, someone who'd been with me for a while. But let's face it, sometimes things just don't click. Our values, what's truly important to each of us, weren't quite aligned.
Now, I'm not saying we created a reason to part ways – in fact, we both kind of came to the same conclusion. But it got me thinking: can you really change someone's core values?
Here's the thing: when your team shares your core values, it's like magic. Everyone's on the same page, motivated by the same things. Decisions become easier, there's less friction, and everyone feels like they're contributing to something bigger.
So, how do you build that dream team? Here are some tips I've learned (the hard way sometimes!):
✅ Know your own values INSIDE OUT. What's your company's DNA? What drives you and your business?
✅ Shout those values from the rooftops! Let your website, job postings, even your social media scream your core beliefs.
✅ Go beyond skills in interviews. Ask questions that dig deeper, that uncover what truly motivates someone.
By focusing on value alignment, you attract people who are already passionate about what you're doing. That's the kind of team that takes your business to the next level.
What are YOUR core values? Share them in the comments! Let's chat about building a team that works for YOU.
