NDAREC welcomed new employees and directors from across the state at the Cooperative Connection, a two-day course aimed at providing a solid orientation for those joining the electric cooperative family.
Participants explored the cooperative business model and principles, learned how electricity is generated, transmitted and distributed, and discussed the trends and challenges shaping the industry. A behind-the-scenes tour of BNI Coalโs Center Mine and Minnkota Power Cooperativeโs Milton R. Young Station provided a firsthand look at how North Dakota lignite helps power our communities.
Thank you to the speakers and cooperative leaders who shared their knowledge and experience throughout the event:Bryan Singletary, Practical Energies; Josh Kramer, executive vice president and general manager, NDAREC; Jean Brandt, director, Central Power and North Central Electric Co-Op, and NDAREC board member; Paul Fitterer, general manager, Capital Electric Cooperative ; Christel Laskowski, business manager, Verendrye Electric Cooperative; Chris Baumgartner, senior vice president of member and external relations, Basin Electric Power Cooperative; and Doug Remboldt, president and CEO, National Information Solutions Cooperative(NISC).
The Cooperative Connection helped participants better understand what it means to be part of the electric cooperative network and the important role each employee and director plays in serving members and communities.
