Posting to hold myself accountable. For whatever reason, I have the unrealistic belief that my followers will DM me on how I’m doing with my health commitments. Going to need to get a bit more followers for that to become a reality! 😂
I recently met up with a midwife friend and we chatted about all kinds of things. As I was talking, I realized how much I have let my emotions control the responsibility I have to fuel my body. I was talking about a whole host of symptoms that I know are signs of hormone disregulation. Yes, in part, is because of breast-feeding. But many women don’t realize much of your health IS in your control regardless of what you’re facing.
Before becoming pregnant with my third, I was showing signs of estrogen dominance. Was looking a little PCOS looking.
Now, 7 months postpartum, I’m doing the same. So it’s time to get with it. One of my main issues has been eating balanced, and eating foods that are not processed.
Don’t get me wrong! The options we choose are better than the mainstream brands. Before I was educated on the topic, I thought that that was okay. But at the end of the day, my gluten-free organic crackers are still a processed food that is diluted nutrients and does not easily digest to absorb into my body to fuel my hormones.
When your body is still healing from a birth, your baby is keeping you up with teething, and breast-feeding is sucking everything into your baby… This is a recipe for disaster. On so many levels.
This can make a pre-existing autoimmune disorder worse, throw off your cycle, or give you a whole slew of symptoms that you just don’t have time to have as a mother. Taking care of babies, nobody has time for headaches, joint pain, digestive issues, skin, problems, anxiety, depression, and whatever else would be considered a consequence of putting your health last.
We can’t possibly be decent wives, good mothers, or stellar employees when our tank is empty.
So seriously… Where my village at to help me be accountable and who wants to join me?
