In honor of National Scotch Day on Sunday, we want to acknowledge and appreciate the rich heritage of Scotch whisky, distilled in Scotland starting over 500 years ago. Scotch whisky traces its roots back to 15th-century monks distilling “aqua vitae” in the Scottish Highlands. Since then, passion and precision have brought the spirit across the world to be appreciated by many. We are proud to help bring Scotland’s legacy to U.S. shelves and glasses, importing many scotch whisky brands including Compass Box and Sassenach Spirits. Compass Box pushes the boundaries of Scotch blending with creativity, transparency, and flavor-forward innovation. Congratulations to MHW client AMARETTO ADRIATICO who won First Place at the 2025 Bar Convent Brooklyn Brand Accelerator Pitch Competition and took home the $51,000 prize package! All of the finalists delivered impressive pitches and samples to the judging panel. Thank you to Women of the Vine & Spirits and Diverse Powered Brands for asking MHW to co-sponsor and judge. This June the MHW team exhibited at Bar Convent Brooklyn, and it was one to remember! We welcomed 7 clients from across the globe in our booth for tasting takeovers, and hosted our very own client showcase summer happy hour featuring 14 unique client cocktails crafted by the talented bartenders at Mama Tried Cocktail Bar. It was great to catch up with clients and industry partners alike and advise new brands in the space on next steps in our home market. Our Head of BrandArc Ian Perez wrapped up the show judging the BCB Brand Accelerator Pitch Competition, a campaign we started at Bar Convent Berlin in 2022 that Women of the Vine & Spirits and Diverse Powered Brands took on the road to Brooklyn (and knocked out of the park)! Looking forward to doing it all again next year!

MHW would like to welcome 2 of our newest clients: Gonzo Whiskey and Innovation Beverage with Australian Bitters Company.
Gonzo Whiskey was created to portray the legacy of renowned journalist and author, Hunter S. Thompson. In 2018, the concept grew out of Aspen, Colorado when Thompson’s wife Anita met with Dr. Matt Patel, who had an idea for an innovative distillery just six miles from Hunter’s Owl Farm. Over 5 years, they ensured every detail was spot on in creating a blend of Kentucky’s rich Bourbon heritage with the untamed spirit of his Colorado home. They now have three different whiskeys.
The Australian Bitters Company handcrafts each of their bitters in Australia from the finest natural botanical herbs and spices. Each of their small batch bitters has more than 20 herbs and spices, formulating their top secret recipes. They carry Australian Bitters, Australian Bitters Orange, Australian Bitter Grapefruit, and Australian Bitters Barrel Spice.

This week, the MHW team attended the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America 2025 Access Live Conference! Ryan O’Hara, Scott Saul, MaryAnn Pisani, Brigid Mannarino (McCabe), and Michelle Street Beaudette had a productive show speaking with current MHW clients, potentials, & partners, and attending a number of great educational sessions!
