Iceland made me wonder: what is the truth?
And what am I?
- The office, a career, big corporations, a tidy home, minimalism in food and interior design, meetings every day, a hectic life
- Nature, the moment, ordinary days, imagining what I’d like to do, the ocean, freshness, tranquillity
Where on earth are we all rushing to?
By chance, during our trip, we found ourselves in a tiny village – it isn’t even marked on the map as a town. Only 1,000 people live here, perhaps even fewer: just one grocery shop, a church, one school and a nursery.
But the people! They come here and want to live here.
I asked myself: how? Why? And what about… ‘civilisation’?
What is that, anyway?
My couchsurfer replied: ‘It’s all down to the imagination.’
In big cities, everything’s already been decided for us: work, the gym, the cinema, football matches, entertainment, the radio… s*x
But here – you choose for yourself
If you want, go fishing; if you want, climb a mountain; if you want, carve a statue from stone or make wooden jewellery to sell to happy tourists; if you want, go for a walk and paint
We’re always waiting for the right moment
For liberation
For that very moment of inspiration
I travelled to Iceland precisely for this realisation that lay deep within me
What is life, really?
What is a moment, really?
For the first time, I fall asleep every day with the feeling that I might not wake up tomorrow and that is a little death and it gives me an immense sense of fulfilment each day and happiness from having lived
Every effort
Without a future
Without striving to achieve
Simply - today
