One common way to think about risk management is through four general approaches: ignoring a risk, avoiding it, managing or reducing it, or transferring some of its financial impact, such as through insurance.
The appropriate approach depends on the specific risk, its potential consequences, costs, and your individual circumstances. The important part is understanding the tradeoffs and making an informed decision rather than simply reacting to risk.
