Davóne Tines’ Concerto No. 2: 'ANTHEM' makes its New York premiere at Carnegie Hall 🎶

On October 28, Tines joins the Columbus Symphony and Music Director Rossen Milanov for the work’s New York premiere as part of the orchestra’s 75th Anniversary season.

Created by Tines, 'ANTHEM' explores nationhood, identity, and competing visions of America through music by Caroline Shaw and Tyshawn Sorey, arrangements by Michael Schachter and Tines, and poetry by Mahogany L. Browne.

The performances begin in Columbus on October 23 and 24 before heading to Carnegie Hall.

This fall, on October 15, the makes its Carnegie Hall debut with Nikos Kazantzakis: An Odyssey in Music—a sweeping celebration of the legendary writer, the spirit of Crete, and more than a century of Greek musical heritage.

Inspired by the work and legacy Kazantzakis, the program will feature the U.S. premiere of the Greek National Opera’s Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis’s 'Amor Fati,' Georgian mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili performing songs by Mikis Theodorakis, Greek soprano Maria Kostraki performing selections from Manos Hadjidakis’s 'Captain Michalis,' Nikos Skalkottas’s 'Three Cretan Dances,' and Dimitri Mitropoulos’s Cretan Feast, reflecting the enduring influence of Crete—the island that shaped Kazantzakis—on modern Greek composition.
