JUST ANNOUNCED!

Failure to Launch: Helping Parents Empty the Nest

More young adults are staying home longer, and families are struggling to navigate the line between supporting their adult children and helping them move toward independence.

How much should parents help? When does support become enabling? How can parents set expectations without damaging the relationship? And how can clinicians help families navigate these conversations without taking sides?

Midwest Mental Health Solutions is excited to welcome Dr. Jack Stoltzfus, PhD, a Licensed Psychologist and Family Therapist with 40 years of clinical experience, for this timely three-hour training.

Failure to Launch: Helping Parents Empty the Nest will provide therapists and educators with practical strategies for helping parents and emerging adults establish a path toward self-sufficient adulthood while protecting the parent-child relationship.

Dr. Stoltzfus will introduce six key practices parents can adopt to successfully launch their young adult, drawing from developmental and family therapy models as well as decades of clinical practice.

And we're making this training easy to attend with THREE OPTIONS:

October 23 – In-person at the Shoreview, MN Community Center | 9 AM–12 PM

October 30 – Live online via interactive Zoom | 9 AM–12 PM

October 31 – On-demand training available to complete on your own schedule

The training has also been approved for 3 hours of Cultural Competence CEUs by the Minnesota Boards of Marriage and Family Therapy, Behavioral Health and Therapy (LPCC & LADC), Psychology, and Social Work, with approvals or applicable requirements across several additional Midwest states.

If you work with parents, families, adolescents, or emerging adults, this is a training you won't want to miss.

Registration is NOW OPEN.

LAST CALL: Stop Doing the Work for Your Clients.

Many clinicians were trained to listen, validate, and support. Those skills matter—but they're only part of the equation.
The goal of therapy isn't for clients to become more dependent on us. It's to help them develop the insight, confidence, and skills to create lasting change on their own.

Self Therapy: A Toolbox to Facilitate Clients Changing Themselves introduces a practical, contract-based approach that helps clinicians:

✔️ Reduce resistance
✔️ Strengthen the therapeutic alliance
✔️ Recognize personality adaptations
✔️ Prescribe homework with greater purpose
✔️ Help clients move from insight to meaningful action

Join us LIVE via Zoom on July 31 or choose the on-demand recording and learn on your schedule.

**Are your clients making progress... or just feeling supported?**

The conversation doesn't have to end when the live training does.

Our **on-demand recording** of **When Holding Space Becomes Harmful: Our Ethical Responsibility to Move Clients Forward** gives you the flexibility to earn CEUs on your own schedule while exploring one of the most important ethical questions facing our profession.

This 3-hour ethics training challenges clinicians to examine therapist effects, clinical disposition, and the subtle ways well-intentioned support can unintentionally reinforce avoidance instead of meaningful progress.

You'll also be introduced to the **Compassionate Accountability** framework—a practical, evidence-informed approach to helping clients move forward while maintaining empathy and therapeutic connection.

✅ **3 Hours of Ethics CEUs Approved**
(MN Boards of Social Work, Behavioral Health & Therapy, Psychology, and Marriage & Family Therapy)

🎥 **Watch anytime. Learn at your own pace. Earn your CEUs when it's convenient for you.**

Because ethical practice isn't just about holding space—it's about helping clients move forward.

On-Demand recording to view on your own schedule.
