💔 A Heartbreaking Setback for a Local Community
Our hearts go out to Executive Pastor Evelyn Ogletree and the entire team at First Metropolitan Church in Harris County.
These thieves didn't just steal air conditioning units; they targeted a vital community hub that houses a food pantry and serves as a home base for dedicated senior volunteers. Even with iron fences and security cameras, the thieves were able to disable the lights and move the cameras to get what they wanted.
This is exactly why we created CopperWatcher. Cameras can only record a crime after it's started, and fences can be cut. CopperWatcher is designed to stop thieves the second they touch the unit. By monitoring refrigerant pressure and power 24/7, our system triggers the alarm immediately—scaring off criminals before they can strip the copper and leave a non-profit with a massive replacement bill.
We want to help.
The CopperWatcher team is reaching out to First Metropolitan Church to see how we can support them in securing their facility and ensuring their volunteers have a cool, safe place to continue their mission of helping those in need.
No community organization should have to divert its limited budget away from serving people to pay for expensive theft repairs.
