How I got into the print shop industry?

I started drawing cartoons as a 12-year-old kid; Flintstones, Smurfs, Spider-Man, that kind of thing
My family encouraged me to take it further, so I went to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and got a two-year degree in graphic design.

The program focused on practical work; billboards, magazines, vehicle graphics. Things you’d actually use in the real world, not just theory.

From there, I built on what I learned and turned it into a business.

Ever wonder where One Eyed Graphics name actually comes from?

So the name One Eyed Graphics actually comes from my boat, and the boat name comes from falling asleep everywhere.

I'm a boater, spend my summers at the lake, and about 15 or 20 years ago I had this habit of just passing out. Friend's chair, neighbor's recliner, didn't matter.

My buddy Rob's mother in law would see me knocked out and say "One Eyed Jacks is out." People kept bugging me while I was trying to sleep, so the nickname stuck.

Fast forward, I buy a boat and need to name it. One Eyed Jacks felt right with the whole pirate theme I was going for. Designed the skull logo, did the map background, the whole thing.

Here's where it gets interesting. When I started the wrap business, I spent about a week writing down 15 or 20 different company names and kept coming up empty.

Then I realized I already had the perfect name sitting at the dock. One Eyed Graphics. It's unique, people ask about it, and honestly some think I actually have a bad eye until I tell them it's just good marketing.
