I'd Like to Find a Case Manager!
Maybe one day I'll be able to find her. Maybe one day I'll have the opportunity to meet her, give her a big hug, and simply say "Thank you".
She's the reason I have such deep respect and admiration for Case Managers.
I want to share a story.
The story of being the patient. The story where your future may depend on whether someone is willing to advocate for you. Someone willing to pick up the phone, call 200 different places, sort through resources, send stacks of paperwork, follow up again, and then do it all over again if necessary.
Advocacy is a mission carried in the heart. It's the determination to keep moving forward when doors keep closing. It's convincing everyone involved that doing what is right matters, simply because it is the right thing to do. Even when no one is watching. Even when others question your persistence. Even when the process feels impossible. It's knowing that somewhere, someone is living a fuller life today because you refused to give up on them.
I carry a special Case Manager in my heart. I never met her. I don't even know her name. But during some of my hardest days, I close my eyes and think about how fortunate I am to be here, living another day, because someone I never knew chose not to give up on me. So, wherever you are, thank you! You may never know the impact you had on my life, but I remember it. And you remain in my prayers.
To every Case Manager: thank you for your compassion, your persistence, your courage, and your commitment to those you serve. The work you do matters more than you will ever know.
With deep gratitude and respect, Happy Case Management Week! ๐
