ISR Manteca Coming up session starts April 19th 2021! Your Child’s ISR Self-Rescue Skills:
What will my infant or child learn?

Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue (TM) technique is the safest provider of survival swimming lesson for children from six months to six years. Infants (6 months- 18 months old) will learn to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their back and float unassisted. Children (18 months - 6 years old) will learn the following sequence: how to hold their breath underwater; swim with their head do

wn and eyes open; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breath; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool and can crawl out or be rescued by an adult.

• Lessons are no more than 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. In order to master these self-rescue skills, the enrollment period is between 6 and 8 weeks (30 to 40 lessons) or until self rescue can be maintained. It’s family pool time! Everyone jumps in for some fun to cool off from the heat. You put your toddler in a puddle jumper flotation device and encourage him to jump in from the side of the pool. Toys and floats all around, his older sisters swimming nearby. Everyone is having so much fun. Your chil...

Are lessons REALLY just 10 minutes?! 😱

We know, we know....it sounds a little crazy but this is very much by design. Here's a bit of info as to why we do short, frequent lessons in ISR...

💦 It's the way young children learn 💦

As babies, we don't practice walking once a week. Standing, balancing, cruising are done in tiny increments each day as part of our experience of learning to walk. And similar to walking, swimming is a sensorimotor skill best learned by experience over time.

💦Kids thrive on routine💦

The consistency of the daily lesson schedule creates an optimal learning environment. When kids know where they are going, who they will be with, and what is expected of them they begin to feel confident and secure, building trust with their instructor as they are taught these priceless skills.

💦It’s WORK!💦

People often think of swimming as a "for fun" activity, but they forget...it's a workout! Little bodies get tired quickly, and fatigued muscles + water (the most unforgiving environment on the planet) = dangerous. Safety is our top priority, so instructors closely monitor your child's fatigue to ensure they are practicing efficiently for an optimal learning experience.

While clever, smart, and sometimes unassuming, little ones are frequently underestimated. Traditional drowning prevention strategies, while important, overlook one of the most formidable defenses: the child. We know a child who is mobile enough to reach the water alone can be taught to save herself should she find herself in the water unattended. To learn more, please visit www.isrmanteca.com

Effective, high-quality swim lessons can be the difference between life and death for your child. Learning how to swim, including self-rescue skills for infants and toddlers, play a vital role in drowning prevention. These lessons should be included in all parent's safety plan for their child; just like appropriate car seats and helmets play their role. Teaching little ones to save themselves in the water if the need were to arise is the sole purpose of Infant Swimming Resource; that isn’t to say, however, that there aren’t some awesome added benefits. For a lot of little ones, learning their ISR Self-Rescue skills will be the first thing they accomplish without the help of mom and dad. We never get tired of seeing young children so proud of themselves! 😀
