Cold temperatures slow bleach's chemical reactions, making it less effective, but freezing (around 19°F / -7°C) is the main issue, as it causes the sodium hypochlorite to separate, significantly reducing potency even after thawing; generally, temperatures below 50°F (10°C) can hinder performance. Normally this causes young pressure washers to use way to much bleach to complete jobs and that results in dead plants and grass from over bleaching.
