Because real life happens.

Shoes pile up. Papers land on the counter. The pantry gets messy. And some weeks, putting everything back exactly where it belongs just isn’t the priority.

A good organizing system doesn’t prevent any of that. It makes it easier to reset when you’re ready.

That’s always the goal — creating spaces that work for everyday life, not just the day we finish organizing them.

A quick introduction for those new here. I'm Megan, the owner of White Space Organizing.

I'm a Maple Grove mom of two boys and a professional home organizer who genuinely loves figuring out how to make a space work better.

I help families create homes that are organized, functional, and easier to maintain. I love a space that looks good, but it also has to work for the people living there.

If you could hand over ONE space in your home for me to organize, what would it be? Leave your space in the comments.

Thanks for being here!

This was such a fun project to work on because there were so many little details to think through.

We created a dedicated coffee station to get a large espresso machine off the kitchen counter, made better use of the storage throughout the kitchen and pantry, and tackled a mudroom that needed to hold a lot of shoes, along with games, kids’ stuff, and everything else that comes through the door.

I really enjoyed figuring out how to make all of these spaces work better for this family while still making them look good.

And getting a review like this at the end of a project means so much. Thank you for trusting me with your home!

“I don’t know where to start.”

“I’m embarrassed for you to see this.”

“I just don’t have time to tackle it.”

“I need more storage.”

These are all things I hear during consultations, and exactly the kinds of things we can figure out together.

You don’t need to clean up before I come over, have a plan for the space, or know exactly what you need. The consultation is where I get to see how you’re using your home now, understand what isn’t working, and start figuring out how we can make it work better for you.

Sometimes a fresh set of eyes is a really good place to start.

A few things come with me to every organizing session.

Some help us sort and make decisions, some help make better use of the space, and others add those finishing touches that make a system easier to maintain.

But the most important thing I bring isn’t something that fits in my bag — it’s a fresh set of eyes.

When you’ve lived with a space for a long time, it can be hard to see it another way. I get to come in, look at how you’re using the space now, and find practical solutions that make it work better for you.

This project was about making the kitchen work better as a whole.

We organized the kitchen and pantry around how this family uses them every day — creating clear zones, making better use of cabinet and pantry storage, and giving everything an intentional home.

One of my favorite parts was the coffee station. A large espresso machine was taking up valuable kitchen counter space, so we created a dedicated coffee area just outside the main kitchen. With a new piece of furniture, thoughtful storage, and a little styling, it became a functional extension of the kitchen while freeing up counter space where it was needed most.

Sometimes the best organizing solution isn’t about fitting more into the space you have. It’s about looking at the space differently and finding a solution that better supports how you live.

I know, I know…we’re talking about back-to-school already.

But summer has a way of flying by, and a little prep now can make those first few weeks feel a lot less chaotic.

You don’t need to organize your entire house before school starts. Focus on the spaces and systems that support your family’s everyday routines — where everyone comes and goes, where papers land, what you reach for each morning, and how you keep track of it all.

A few thoughtful resets now can make busy mornings and afternoons much easier later.

Save this one for when you’re ready to start thinking about fall

One of the hardest parts of decluttering is letting go of the “just in case” items.

But when your home is filled with things you’re keeping just in case, it can make everyday life harder than it needs to be.

The goal isn’t to get rid of everything. It’s to make room for the things you actually use, love, and need in this season of life.

Your home should support the life you’re living today.

School’s almost out, summer activities are starting, and before we know it, the kids will be home a lot more.

This weekend can be a great time to do a few small resets before summer gets fully underway.

You don’t need to organize the entire house. Start with one space that will make everyday life a little easier—whether that’s the pantry, mudroom, toy storage, or garage.

I put together a few simple ideas to help you get started.

Sometimes the smallest resets make the biggest difference.

This kitchen didn’t need a massive overhaul — it needed better function.

There was very little decluttering involved here, but creating clear zones and consolidating like items made a huge difference in how the space works day to day.

Baking supplies, cooking items, spices, smoothies, dishes, and even a dog zone were all given intentional homes based on how the kitchen is used daily.

Without a dedicated pantry, food and baking items had slowly taken over the counters. By better utilizing the cabinets and drawers, a functional pantry zone was created within the existing kitchen footprint, making everyday items easier to access and maintain.

Simple systems tend to work best when they support your routines rather than fight them.
