News from the Lion’s Den:
If you have wondered why there hasn’t been an update on our newest family member, Sir Smudge, here it is:
Sir Smudge got a big scared when his other three siblings were being re-homed. We decided to give him some extra time and delayed his arrival at our house. Which was precisely what he needed.
He arrived on Sunday and has been settling in slowly in our spare bedroom. Understandably, he is taking his time warming up but he is eating and using the litter box.
Today, I decided to make the deep dark corners under the bed inaccessible so it will be easier to engage with him. He actually allowed me to pet him and anyone who has worked with scared kitties will know that’s a BIG DEAL! We will give him all the time he needs to get confident about his new home.
For those of you who have heard me talk about the Five Elements of TCM, he is a Water. So safety is his biggest priority. Patience and calmness are needed without allowing him to get stuck in his fear response.
Pictures will be shared when he is a bit more settled.
In the meantime, I bought a new bed which Miles promptly claimed since he is now the OG.
I also put a second cat tree together and the boys are thoroughly enjoying it. It will give everyone more spaces to get away from each other. Here are some pics and yes, Merlin was VERY involved in helping me with the assembly!
