It may seem like a good idea to self clean your oven and make it nice and clean again before your family comes to visit before the holidays but unless you have a backup option for cooking your holiday meal it's not recommended. I do many oven repairs every year, some from just regular everyday use but self clean is a common killer especially in the newer vintage electronic ovens. If you decide to clean it use easy off for self clean ovens to avoid the headache of having to call me to try and save your family dinner or at the very least wait till after the holidays or run the shorter clean cycle less than the standard 4 hrs. Self clean gets extremely hot and electronics don't like 500+ degrees. Happy holidays.
