Puppy Pick-Up Day at Ironside Ranch!
Puppy pick up day is one of those days we look forward to just as much as our clients do.
For many of the people coming through our gate, this day has been months and sometimes years in the making.
They've waited for the right breeding. They've watched puppies be born and grow. They've followed pictures and videos, talked with us about personalities, asked questions, wondered which puppy would be theirs... and imagined the day they would finally get to hold their dog.
And then suddenly... the day is here.
There are excited faces pulling into the ranch, lots of excitement, laughter, conversations, new connections, and quite often a few happy tears.
But puppy pick-up day means something pretty special to us, too. Because by the time someone comes here to take their puppy home, we know them.
We've spent time learning about their life, not simply which color puppy they want. We want to know what they hope to do with their dog, what their household is like, their activity level, their experience, their expectations and even the little things that help us understand which of our bloodlines and personalities will truly fit them.
On this day we get to watch the beginning of something we put a tremendous amount of work and heart into.
That's why our puppy pick ups aren't a five-minute exchange at the front door handing off a puppy and some paperwork.
We sit together, we talk, we teach, we answer questions, we show our clients how to communicate with their puppy and help them understand the little individual they're taking home.
And then we watch them leave together.
For some clients, this puppy will become a wonderfully loved member of the household. For others, this dog will become something much bigger, a personal companion, an adventure partner, a child's best friend, a service dog, or the dog that quietly changes their life.
We know we're watching someone drive away with a dog that is going to change their life.
