What makes good firewood?
It starts with the wood itself—but drying matters just as much.
Properly dried hardwood burns hotter, burns more efficiently and helps you get more enjoyment out of every fire.
At Wolfscratch, our hardwood is solar kiln dried to help get the moisture where it needs to be before it ever reaches your fire pit.
Dry wood. Better fire.

Forests provide food, shelter and nesting habitat for countless birds—including species that travel thousands of miles during migration.
The Potts Mountain property is protected in perpetuity and is a certified Wildlife Sanctuary.
At Wolfscratch, we believe enjoying what the forest provides also means taking care of the forest itself.
Sustainably harvested. Locally sourced. Respectful of the land.

Healthy forests are more than a source of firewood. They're habitat.
That’s why how firewood is harvested matters.
Wolfscratch Firewood comes from sustainably harvested hardwood on land that is managed with the long-term health of the forest in mind. Responsible harvesting allows us to enjoy the warmth of a fire while respecting the land that makes it possible.
Good firewood starts with a healthy forest.
Ours is a Certified Wildlife Sanctuary (by Birds Georgia)

WHAT’S IN YOUR FIREWOOD?

When you pick up a piece of Wolfscratch Firewood, you’re holding more than just a log.
You’re holding locally harvested hardwood that came from a living forest—wood that would otherwise have been left behind or wasted.
You’re also holding the story of where it came from: a Pickens County perpetually protected forest, where responsible harvesting helps make room for new growth and maintains a healthy, diverse woodland.
And because our firewood is solar kiln dried, you’re getting wood prepared specifically for a better-burning fire.

So what’s in your firewood?
- Hardwood from local forests
- Solar-kiln drying
- Responsible harvesting
- And the makings of a memorable evening around the fire

Wolfscratch Firewood — firewood with a story you can depend on.

THE FIRE PIT CHECKLIST
Before you light the fire, make sure you’ve got the essentials:
1. Firewood — preferably plenty of it. You don’t want the fire going out at 9:00. Ours comes boxed or in 1/8 cord racks.
2. Kindling — because even great firewood needs a little help getting started and ours INLCLUDES it!
3. A lighter or matches — seems obvious…until you’re standing at the fire pit without them. But worry not, ours INCLUDES them!
4. Comfortable chairs — because “I’ll just stand for a minute” never lasts. Sorry, your're on your own!
5. A blanket — for when the evening gets just a little cooler.
6. S’mores supplies — obviously non-negotiable.
7. Something to sip — your choice.
8. Good company — the most important ingredient.
And finally…
A great fire.
That’s where Wolfscratch Firewood comes in. Stock the wood. Gather your people. Let the evening begin.

Not all firewood burns the same.
Hardwood is prized for good reason: it generally burns longer and produces a substantial, lasting fire—making it ideal for evenings around the fire pit.
Wolfscratch Firewood is locally harvested hardwood, then solar kiln dried for a ready-to-burn product. Because a great fire starts with great wood.

When do you light your first fire of the season?

Wolfscratch Firewood starts in a forest, NOT a factory.

Our hardwood comes from locally harvested downed trees on land that is being managed with conservation in mind.
Responsible harvesting is a big part of a healthy forest by making room for new growth, providing habitat, and keeping useful hardwood from going to waste.

We believe firewood should be about more than the fire. It should be about where it comes from - and ours is Pickens-county born and raised!
