Details:
On June 2nd, 2026, our friend, colleague, husband, father, and brother in blue, Sergeant Christian Ivanov of the Atlantic City Police Department, was critically injured after being shot in the line of duty while serving and protecting the community he has dedicated his life to. Christian is currently in stable but serious condition, surrounded by his family, friends, and fellow officers as he begins the fight toward recovery.

To many, Christian is a highly respected SWAT Sergeant with the Atlantic City Police Department, a leader who has spent his career running toward danger when others are running away from it. He is known for his courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. But beyond the badge, Christian is so much more. He is a devoted husband to his wife and a loving father to three young children who are now facing an uncertain and difficult road ahead. He is a successful small business owner, a mentor, a friend, and the kind of person who is always willing to help others without hesitation.

Today, Christian and his family need our help. The road to recovery will be long. As Christian focuses on healing, his family will be faced with medical expenses, travel costs, childcare needs, household expenses, and countless unforeseen challenges that come with recovering from a traumatic injury.

We are asking the Atlantic County community, touched by the sacrifices made by first responders, to stand with Christian and his family during this difficult time. Christian has spent his life protecting others. Now it is our turn to support him. Thank you for your generosity, support, and prayers.

HELLO, I’M THE SPINY-BACKED ORB-WEAVER.
Sorry about the “ugly” spider webs on your pool enclosure. You’ve likely seen me in Marco Island a few times. Sometimes called a “Crab Spider”.

I know what you’re thinking.
Spider. Web. Bites. Danger.

None of that is really true.

I’m not aggressive. I don’t chase you. I don’t want anything to do with you.
I’m just here because your pool cage is basically a buffet for flying bugs.

I build my web where the food is.

And your lanai?
It’s prime real estate.

🌿 What I’m actually doing here:

I spin a perfectly round web and sit quietly, waiting.
When mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and no-see-ums hit the web… that’s it. Dinner.

Every night I rebuild my web and remove more pests from around your pool.

That annoying web?
It’s catching the bugs that would otherwise be biting you.

🌿 What I am (and what I’m not):
• I’m a spiny-backed orb weaver (yes, I look wild, I know)
• My shell is hard and spiky to scare predators—not you
• I’m not dangerous to people
• Bites are extremely rare and harmless
• I don’t come inside your house
• I don’t infest anything

🌿 Why you see me around pools in Marco Island:
• Pool lights attract bugs
• Screens trap them inside
• I set up shop where the food is best
• Your enclosure = my hunting ground

🌿 The truth most people don’t realize:

One spider = hundreds of bugs removed per week

Mosquitoes. Flies. Gnats.
The exact stuff that ruins your evening outside.

🌿 Good news — I’m temporary:

I live one season.
By winter, I’m gone.

No long-term problem. No infestation. No takeover.

🌿 What to do:
• If you can tolerate me → leave me alone (free pest control)
• If the web is in your way → knock it down (I’ll rebuild elsewhere)
• No chemicals needed
• No pest control needed

I look like something out of a sci-fi movie…
But I’m actually helping you enjoy your pool more.

Fewer bugs. Less biting. Better nights outside.
