Bates Photography Clothing and Prop Ideas If you want a more “traditional” photo shoot, then I recommend that you wear solid color clothing (clothes without patterns or logos**).

Clothing Ideas

It all depends on what type of portraits you are looking for. If you want a more casual photo shoot then bring clothing that looks like something you would wear on a normal day. Or clothes that say something about you such as western wear. Groups should all wear either matching or coordinat

ing outfits. An example of coordinating outfits would be something such as, having all the guys wear a brown shirt while the gals wear pink. Or having the men all wear a plaid shirt and having the women wear one of the colors that are in the plaid print. (An example being: If you had a plaid that was Green, Yellow, and White, the women could wear a dress or shirt that was Yellow, Green, or White.)

**Exceptions for senior portraits. Prop Ideas and Helpful Hints

Instruments, Sports equipment, a favorite toy, your child’s “dress up” clothes, Hats, Bows, Headbands, Jewelry, a Bible, a Baby blanket, a Saddle, Just as long as it says something about who you are.

**Be sure to get plenty of sleep the night before adults and children. Sleepy people don’t take portraits as easily!

**Also Please be sure to remove all nail polish from your nails or re-paint them the night before.

**When having your young children photographed it is helpful if the parents stand directly behind me and talk to the child so as to capture his/her attention. J
