The Wipiak team was honored to be asked to update the appraisal the collection of the Ohio Statehouse. This will be a multi-phase project, starting today with the portraits of Ohio's lieutenant governors. These portraits hang in various rooms throughout the building.

Also on view in the statehouse are Ohio's two constitutions (the original 1802 and the 1851 update), which we appraised several years ago.

In honor of Juneteenth: this is a painting we appraised of Melrose Plantation by Clementine Hunter, a self-taught artist who lived and worked on the plantation, and began selling her artworks in her 50s. Hunter became the first African American artist to have a solo exhibition at the New Orleans Museum of Art, and her works have a lasting legacy in 20th century folk artists. Our sister company's most recent auction in Zoar, Ohio was a great success with 95% of the lots sold, and a sale total that exceeded the overall pre-sale estimate! It was a great day for painted furniture and folk art, and we so appreciate the generous welcome of the Zoar community. We'll be back at Zoar in May 2027!
