While working at The Marion Cemetery we have been finding out so much history!
Did you know?!
1-The receiving vault was originally built in 1879 and was used to hold bodies when the ground was too frozen to dig in the winters.🥶
2-Heavy metal doors stopped would-be grave robbers from stealing bodies for medical research 😳
3-Later, in 1923 this became President Harding’s temporary resting place. There were armed guards who monitored the tomb day & night until the Harding memorial was completed in 1927.
