A few days later, and we’re still celebrating an incredible weekend for McDowell County!

The McDowell Chamber of Commerce extends our congratulations and sincere appreciation to the The City of Marion, NC, Marion Business Association - MBA, Marion Police Department, Marion Fire Department, McDowell County 911 / Emergency Management, our local small businesses, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and everyone who helped make the 2026 WNC Bigfoot Festival such a tremendous success.

Events of this size don’t happen without countless hours of planning, preparation, coordination, and hard work. From keeping our community safe and welcoming thousands of visitors to supporting vendors, businesses, and festival activities, so many people played a role in bringing this event to life.

It was wonderful to see Downtown Marion filled with visitors, families, and community spirit. But what makes us especially proud is seeing so many people and organizations working together to showcase the very best of McDowell County.

Congratulations on another successful WNC Bigfoot Festival, and thank you to everyone who had a hand in making it happen. We’re proud to call this community home!

Bigfoot is coming to downtown Marion—and so are thousands of visitors!

Events like the WNC Bigfoot Festival are about more than one incredible day. They create an opportunity for our downtown businesses, restaurants, shops, and entrepreneurs to welcome new faces through their doors—and that matters.

Today is an exciting day across McDowell County as students head back to school! As we celebrate a new school year, we are proud to spotlight a Chamber member whose work begins long before a child ever walks through the school doors.
This Member Monday, we are featuring Partnership for Children of the Foothills, an organization dedicated to building a strong foundation for children’s learning and development by strengthening families, early education, and our community.
Serving children ages 0–5 and their families in McDowell, Polk, and Rutherford counties, Partnership for Children of the Foothills provides valuable programs and resources focused on early education, family support, child health, literacy, and professional development for early childhood educators. Their goal is simple but powerful: helping ensure children enter school healthy, safe, and ready to succeed.
From supporting families and child care providers to encouraging early literacy through programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Read Aloud 15 Minutes, their impact helps shape the future of our community—one child at a time.
As the school year begins, we are thankful for organizations like Partnership for Children of the Foothills that invest in our youngest learners and help give every child a strong start.
