If you've got irrigation, dog fences, or internet lines you may be worried about, get them marked asap! We've popped by a few properties this week already to squeeze people in. Seeing orange on your lawn? It might be lawn rust!

Lawn rust is a fungal disease that commonly shows up in late summer and early fall. One of the easiest ways to spot it is the orange or rusty-colored powder that sticks to your shoes, mower, or even your pets after walking through the grass.

What causes it?

Low nitrogen or slow-growing grass
Too much moisture or heavy morning dew
Cool, humid conditions
Shady areas with poor airflow
Grass staying wet for long periods

The good news? Lawn rust usually looks worse than it actually is.

A healthy lawn can typically grow out of it with proper fertilization, mowing, watering, and overall lawn care.

If your lawn is looking a little yellow or orange lately, lawn rust could be the culprit. Proper care can help your grass recover and get back to looking healthy and green.
