Some of today’s garage work on used units that are being tested, repaired, re tested and ready for sale. Some more common GE issues. Note burnt off wire; this happens often on the electric GE dryers due to poor quality control at time of assembly.

All machines I resell I open them up, check them and clean them. Living in a beach region I see a lot of sand in the bottom of lint traps as seen in one of the photos. I always take the time to clean& vaccum all dryer cabinets out prior to selling. I also sell all units with a 100 day money back warranty, somthing you rarely see. The most common issue I see with GE dishwashers that have h20 code, or PR5 error. This is a known design flaw in the water level/pressure sensor. Due to its location and design the nasty grease and grime build up inside of it and cause it to malfunction.

Customer complaint: “not drying very well”

Found the entire length of dryer vent pipe completely clogged with lint. It nearly
Filled a 13 gallon trash bag. I then ran the machine and noticed it sounded awful, so I opened it up to find the rollers were no longer round (more like an octagon). Also the belt tensioner pulley was non existent so the belt was just on metal.

As with all my dryer services that I have to open the unit up, I completly vacuum the entire inner cabinet out and clean it up. The dryer got a new set of rollers, new tensioner pulley and a new belt. Coupled with a freshly cleaned vent the dryer runs like brand new again.

One thing I want to note; this dryer was very much a high fire risk. With the amount of built up lint inside the unit and virtually no exhaust to cool it; it wouldn’t have taken much to catch on fire. CHECK YOUR DRYER VENT EVERY YEAR!

Let’s talk fancy marketing terms and their relevance to your dishwasher. Maytag, Kitchen Aid and some high models of Whirlpool advertise “built in food waste disposer”. They also state you don’t need to scrap or rinse plates, just load them as is and away you go.

I am here to tell you that is in fact not what you want to do. That alleged food waste disposer is a small cylinder that’s supposed to act like a cheese grader to grind food waste and pump it out. Problem? It does not work! I have seen dozens of instances just like in the photos here. Mass amounts of food waste, worse yet it appears to be meat/ chicken. It smells just as bad as it looks. Not only does this eventually ruin the pump as it plugs it up but up until it stops working you are actually washing and rinsing all the dishes, drink water etc and don’t forget that final rinse! All that water is filter through this filter and it’s absolutely disgusting contents.

So if you don’t want this to happen to your nice $800+ dishwasher and need upwards of a $350 repair, simply scrape your plates free from food debris before loading them into your dishwasher!!

Yet another tear down, clean, disinfect and test. Hard water really takes its toll on your appliances. I highly recommend water softner & treatment systems to greatly prolong the life of water appalcines and give you much better cleaning results.

This particular washer was only 4 years old. Just think, you were washing your clothes in this daily! And it smelled just as bad as it looked.

Again, it’s a prime example of what you get when you purchased used/ refurbished appalcines from me.

I’ve had people question my pricing on used appliances I sell. I always tell them it’s because I test them thoroughly, repair as needed, and clean as needed before I offer them for sale.

As seen in the photos below, I had to take this top load washer apart to change the drive block which was stripped out causing the machine to not agitate & wash laundry. Upon disassembly I observed quite the nasty mess. I attributed the build up of slime to the following:

-excessive use of liquid fabric softner
-likely well water
-using cold water for most/ all wash cycles.

The combination of the above causes what you see in the before photos. A quick power washing and scrubbing and the unit looks and smells like new again. It also works like new.

So when your purchasing a used appliance from me, please know your not just getting a used unit that was simply being resold. I also always back anything I sell with at least a 100 day money back warranty policy.
