Versatile Solutions, LLC Helping business owners stop managing the daily chaos so they can start building a lasting business legacy. I knew there had to be a better way.

**It Started With a Familiar Story.....**

Throughout my career, I saw the same pattern over and over: brilliant business owners who were experts at their craft but were being held back by financial complexity and inefficient systems. They were stressed, uncertain about their profitability, and spending too much time battling operational issues instead of focusing on what they do best serving thei

r customers and growing their business. That’s why I founded Versatile Solutions: to provide the strategic financial and operational guidance that turns that complexity and stress into clarity and confidence.

**Experience You Can Trust**

My unique background allows me to see the full picture of your business from the high-level financial strategy down to the software systems that run your day to day operations. Over a decade of experience as a CFO, where I played a key role in generating millions in profit and streamlining operations for a multi-million dollar business. A foundational career in software development and consulting, giving me a rare, hands on understanding of how to make business systems and technology work for you, not against you.

Media Day in Sioux Falls! 📺🎙️

I had a great time visiting with the teams at KELOLAND Living and Midwest Communications this morning.

We dove deep into why fast-growing businesses hit operational walls and how owners can turn financial friction into complete clarity.

Special thanks to both studios for opening their doors to talk about how we help business owners move from chaos to legacy.

Throwing good money after bad is a classic business trap. When you are in the middle of daily operational chaos, it can feel like the only way out.

Growing business owners face this dilemma constantly: cash flow gets unpredictable, so they inject more capital, take out loans, or ramp up spending to "out hustle" the crisis.

They assume money will fix the gap. Borrowing to cover up for bad management or broken processes is like taking another drink to cure a hangover. It does not solve the problem, it just makes the fallout worse.

Money cannot fix waste, and it cannot fix disconnected systems. Mismanagement is fixed by brains, clarity, and structural discipline.

If your business is not yielding the profit it should, the answer usually is not more capital. It is getting real about your numbers, fixing the root cause bottleneck, and creating predictable operational control.

Stop relying on quick financial fixes to patch operational leaks.

Even a Fractional CFO has to take his own medicine sometimes.

Recently, I caught myself creating the exact business chaos I warn my clients about.

Instead of focusing on my primary objective, I tried to tackle a dozen different tasks at once.

The result? I didn't make progress. I just created operational friction.

It is incredibly easy to lose sight of your foundation when your business is moving fast.

I had to stop, eat my own dog food, and apply a crucial exercise from my own 5-step checklist.

When you try to fix everything at once, you fix nothing.

I forced myself to sit down and do the exact exercise I give my clients: I wrote down the #1 operational frustration that, if fixed, would save the most time and money.

This is the single biggest bottleneck. Fixing it automatically solves a dozen other problems downstream.

Once I identified my primary focus, the chaos cleared and momentum returned.

Let me ask you a quick diagnostic question: Are you currently drowning in the daily firefighting of a dozen tasks, or are you focused on the single bottleneck that is draining your profit?

If you are tired of managing chaos and want to identify your primary focus, I put together a simple resource to help.

Spent Sunday at the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) golf fundraiser, Fore His Glory. 🏌️‍♂️

I’ll be honest. If I relied on my swing to make a living, we'd be in serious trouble.

But being outside with family, friends, and supporting a great cause was exactly what the doctor ordered.

The absolute best part of the whole day was hearing a few high school athletes get up and share real, honest testimonies about how much their lives have changed.

Had a few meetings in Sioux Falls last week. One of them had nothing to do with business, and it ended up being the best part of my whole trip. 🤝

Take a listen for a quick reminder on why you don't have to figure everything out alone. Who has shown up for you in your business lately?

Some conversations still need to happen in person. 🤝

Out in Brookings, SD yesterday meeting with a land developer and local construction companies. When there's a wall between the field crews and the finance office, it breeds chaos.

Sometimes the best way to cut through that noise and regain control is a handshake and a real conversation across the table.

Ever gone to dinner with friends and ended up with three different totals because everyone did the math in their head instead of trusting the receipt?

Kind of a harmless version of something I see in businesses all the time.

If your systems don't talk to each other, your numbers are doing the same thing. Everyone's just picking whichever total they trust most.

Could be your CRM.

Could be job costing, estimating, accounting software. You fill in the blank.

When you're manually moving data between them, you're not just losing time. You're creating room for errors, and making big decisions off information that isn't even true.

A healthy business runs on one source of truth. Systems talk to each other, data flows on its own, and you actually know where things stand.

But that's just one piece of it.

As a fractional COO/CFO I look at the whole picture with clients. Cash flow. Bottlenecks. Financial strategy. The systems piece too, but it's not the only thing.

If any of this sounds familiar, let's talk.

Ever visited a ghost town? 🏚️

Recently, I attended one of my son's baseball games in Leavenworth, MN. Pulling up to the intersection, the first thing you see is a baseball diamond carved right out of a cornfield. It felt like a scene straight out of Field of Dreams! ⚾🌽

While my son was warming up, I took a very short drive to check out the town. To my surprise, there wasn't much left besides a large construction company, a cemetery, and an old brick building that once served as the School of the Japanese Martyrs.

But a nearby historical marker told a very different story...

In the 1860s, Leavenworth was a prospering, booming settlement. It boasted a blacksmith, a sawmill, a flour mill, a shoemaker, and a general store. The town was growing rapidly until one external shift changed their trajectory forever.

In the 1870s, the new railroad completely bypassed Leavenworth. 🚂

That single change brought their growth to a permanent halt. The dreams of expansion were taken away, and the town never recovered.

The Business Parallel: Are You Being Bypassed?

It is fascinating and a little terrifying how quickly a slight shift can bring a prospering business to a grinding halt.

Many business owners are experiencing rapid growth right now, but they are secretly overwhelmed by the operational chaos that comes with it. When you are trapped in the trenches fighting daily fires, it is impossible to look at the horizon. You become blind to the "railroads" shifting around you whether that is changing market demands, outdated technology, or internal operational bottlenecks.

🤔 Ask yourself:

*Is your cash flow a constant mystery, leaving you vulnerable to sudden market shifts?

*Are your core systems disconnected, forcing you to operate on gut feeling rather than hard data?

A thriving business isn't just about current momentum; it's about building resilient systems that allow you to scale without breaking. You have to step out of the chaos to see where the tracks are being laid.

What is the one operational shift or bottleneck in your industry that you need to be preparing for right now?

"You can still do stupid things when you're older." 🫣

It was 2:00 AM. My dog started barking, waking me up out of a dead sleep.

I jumped out of bed to see what was going on, but my eyes were stinging and trying to pierce open from intense dryness. After letting the dog outside, I figured I’d put some drops in before heading back to bed.

Half-awake in the dark, I tipped a small plastic vial up over my face exactly like the one I'm holding here in the image.

Instead of squeezing a gentle drop, I misjudged the distance in the dark and jammed the hard plastic tip directly into my eyeball.

💥 The burning was immediate and intense. 💥

When I woke up the next morning, the pain was so excruciating that I feared I had done permanent damage. I called my eye doctor immediately. Luckily, they got me right in. The diagnosis? A painful corneal abrasion, but thankfully outside my central vision area. It healed over the next few days.

As I recovered, the business strategist in me realized how perfect of a metaphor this was for modern leadership.

As business owners, we like to think we are too mature, seasoned, and stable to make rookie mistakes. But when your business experiences rapid growth, an active enemy creeps in: Business Chaos.

Suddenly, you are exhausted, overwhelmed, and trying to fix complex problems in the dark.

Let me ask you a few direct diagnostic questions:

Is your cash flow a constant mystery?

Are you constantly firefighting operational bottlenecks?

Does it feel like your business has a tight grip on you, when it should be the other way around?

When you try to make critical financial or structural decisions while "half-asleep" from burnout, you don't solve the problem you accidentally poke your business in the eye. You create deep financial friction, make bad hires, or execute panicked workarounds that set your margins back months.

If you’ve made a painful mistake in your business recently, give yourself a clean slate. You do not have to fix the damage alone.

Just like my eye doctor stepped in as an expert to diagnose the abrasion and guide me back to safety, an overwhelmed business owner needs a trusted mentor. With over a decade of executive leadership experience, my mission at Versatile Solutions is to help you transition from erratic daily firefighting to long-term strategic freedom.
