Tonight for training, our members conducted a rural water supply training scenario focused on our engine and tanker in areas without a municipal hydrant system. Firefighters established a water supply using a dry hydrant, reinforcing proper drafting techniques and maintaining good water supply.
Once water supply was secured, crews deployed hand lines for simulated fire attack while also utilizing a ground monitor for high-volume water application. Our engine was able to maintain a draft while operating the hand line and ground monitor. The training emphasized coordination between apparatus, efficient water movement, and maintaining adequate fire flow in a rural setting.
This evolution highlights the importance of preparation, teamwork, and proficiency in rural water supply operations to ensure effective fire suppression when hydrant systems are not available.
