In a world frequently defined by social media feeds, endless scrolling, and disconnect-- it’s easy to forget the real connections.

But we don’t.

We remember your names.

We remember your stories.

We remember your "axolotl formerly known as" in addition to their newly chosen name. 🙂

We remember the tanks you've built, the work you've done, the progress you've made, and the milestones you've shared.

Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for sending the updates that absolutely make our day.

Behind every lotl is a human connection — and that’s what truly makes our community special.

HEY YOU GUYSSSSSSSS…… Lizzy here! 🫶

The staff at Lizzy’s Lotyls is officially in class pet curiosity mode 🧠🦎 We know we have many of our lotls living their best lives in classrooms—locally and beyond—and now we want direct feedback from the real MVPs… TEACHERS. 📚✨

If you have (or have had) an axolotl as a class pet, we want to hear all the insider wisdom:

Classroom rules & routines
Weekend + vacation procedures 🏖️
Student involvement (feeding, observation, science tie-ins)
What works, what doesn’t, and what you’d never do again 😅

Our goal?
To better support educators who want to responsibly and successfully keep axolotls in the classroom 💗

Drop your experience in the comments, DM us, or tag a teacher who might have thoughts!!!

Are there axolotl experienced teachers willing to connect with other teachers who are new to the hobby!???! Let us know!!!

Let’s build the ultimate Class Pet Lotl Playbook together 🧪🧬

Yeah—this one cuts because it’s true.

When people build nothing, they often don’t see the invisible labor behind what you’ve created. They don’t see the late nights, the weekends, the early mornings, or the trial-and-error, the money, the time invested, the time lost, the tears during those multiple times when it all went wrong and still does, the learning curve, the boundaries you had to grow, or the responsibility you carry now.

All they see is the thing and think, “Why can’t I have that too?”

So instead of respecting the process, they skip it. Instead of asking how, they demand access. Instead of doing the work, they question your right to protect it. Calling it "gatekeeping" becomes a shortcut. It reframes their discomfort as your wrongdoing.

But here’s the key distinction:
Builders understand why there are gates.
Non-builders only see what they can’t pass through.

People who’ve built something—anything—know that standards aren’t about exclusion. They’re about sustainability. Without them, what you built or plan to build even further collapses, gets diluted, or burns to the ground in one. hot. second.

Protecting your work isn’t selfish; it’s how it survives. And, honestly? Access without effort devalues the thing itself.

If everyone could walk in without paying the cost, then the cost never even mattered to begin with.

So when someone says “gatekeeping,” what they often mean is: “I want the benefit without the burden.”

And you’re allowed to say—out loud or quietly—

No. This took work. Respect it, or do your own.

✨🦎 Axolotl wisdom, Swiftie edition 🦎✨

“Think of your energy as if it's expensive. As if it's like a luxury item — not everyone can afford it.” 💖

Just like our axolotls: calm, unbothered, thriving in their perfectly curated tanks.

They don’t stress. They don’t rush. They conserve that premium energy for snacks, boops, dancing, and glowing gills only.

Protect your peace.

Curate your circle.

Spend your energy where it sparkles. ✨

We say this with love: but, buying two uns*xed axolotls on a whim can quickly turn into a stressful situation—for you and for them.

Here’s why 👇
🧬 S*x is not visually obvious until maturity. Two “cute babies” can later turn into a male + female combo without warning.

🥚 Surprise breeding is NOT harmless
Unplanned breeding can result in hundreds of eggs, health risks for the female, and ethical responsibility for babies you didn’t plan, prepare, or have homes for.

⚠️ Cohabitation of males with females is not guaranteed to be safe. Males may overbreed females. Stress, injury, and declining health can follow fast.

💸 You MUST be ready to commit to one of these outcomes if buying more than one uns*xed axolotl:

➗ A permanent tank divider with adequate filtration on both sides.

🐸 Two fully cycled, separate tanks

🏡 Surrendering/rehoming one axolotl responsibly. Most ethical breeders can assist you with this or find you a suitable replacement specimen of appropriate age/size, and s*x.

Unfortunately, there is no “wait and see” option that’s fair to the animals.

✅ Responsible Alternatives

Choose young DNA-s*xed axolotls, ones that may be older but are visually proven, or plan your potential setup options before purchase. Responsible ownership starts before take-home day—not after a surprise clutch or sudden s*x reveal. Impulse choices may create unwanted stress on you and your axolotls.

Planning creates healthy, happy axolotls. 💗
