An upcoming storm is forecasted to bring colder-than-normal temperatures and significant snowfall, assuming the forecast holds true. Our team will make every effort to continue propane deliveries and perform service as safely and efficiently as possible throughout this period.

Severe weather and road conditions may occasionally prevent us from reaching certain locations until conditions improve. We encourage customers to check their propane tank levels now and place an order if your tank is between 20% and 30% to help ensure uninterrupted service during the storm.

Additionally, help us by keeping driveways, tanks, and access points as clear as possible.

Please note that after-hours or emergency service calls may be subject to additional fees. Planning ahead can help avoid the need for emergency service during severe weather.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Our apologies for the long post, but we felt the information would be helpful to everyone this winter.

How Cold is it?

As a company, we are often asked how we know this winter has been colder or warmer than last winter. Our secret? The Heating Degree Day:

From the EIA, “A degree day compares the mean (the average of the high and low) outdoor temperatures recorded for a location to a standard temperature, usually 65° Fahrenheit (F) in the United States.… Heating degree days (HDD) are a measure of how cold the temperature was on a given day or during a period of days.” (There are Cooling Degree Days for summer.) HDD are calculated from July 1 to June 30 of each year.

The formula for HDD is: Avg Temp - 65

Why does any of this matter to me? The more degree days there are in a particular day, the more energy it takes to keep your house warm.

When considering your gas usage over the past (and upcoming) few weeks, the degree days for this winter are:

7/1/20 to 12/31/20: 1761 HDD

1/1/21 to 2/13/21: 1442 HDD*

Since the beginning of 2021, it has been 82% as cold as the last six months of 2020 combined.

* To date, February has had 517 HDD, which is 47% more than in 2020.

So, when you are looking outside today and tomorrow and it looks cold, it truly is.

To Our Valued Customers and Friends,

It appears that Mother Nature has finally been released from quarantine and is making her way around the entire United States!

During this unprecedented cold weather, we kindly ask that you keep an eye on the amount of propane in your tank. Ordering between 20% and 30% and letting us know the percentage in your tank when ordering, allows us to plan our deliveries in a safe and efficient manner.

We are aware that some companies are limiting the amount of gas they are delivering, and taking several days, even weeks, to make a delivery. Additionally, we have started to receive calls from concerned if their prebuy agreements are safe, etc.…

Since we opened our doors over 70 years ago:
-We have always had enough gas to meet our customer’s needs.
-We have always honored our prebuy agreements and budget plan price caps
-We have always honored our fixed/bid pricing that we offer to local churches and other groups.

Rest assured that we are doing our very best to take care of everyone. We have been a part of your community for generations and we will be here for you for generations to come.

Everyone have a safe and Happy New Year!!!
