When should I stain my fence again?

Here's the thing...

You don't always have to wait until your fence looks completely worn out. 😅

Regular cleaning around the 1–2 year mark can help keep it looking good and protected.

Then, around 3–4 years, a maintenance coat can help keep that protection going.

A little maintenance goes a long way.

Here's a little behind-the-scenes of a fence staining job we did.

Before the stain goes on, the wood needs to be ready for it. You can actually see the difference here. Once the weathered surface, dirt, and buildup are properly cleaned away, the natural wood starts showing again.

That's what we're looking for before we stain.

"So... when does my deck need to be stained again?" 😅

There's no magic date on the calendar.

A deck that's in full sun and gets used every weekend is going to need more attention than one that's shaded and barely touched. For most decks, though, some maintenance cleaning or staining every 1–2 years is a good starting point.
