Just an fyi, from here on out, anyone that calls in asking us to order them a part, will have to pay up front before we order anything. We get a lot of phone calls asking about parts. I have no issue with anyone fixing appliances themselves, but I'm not going to order any parts without payment because we have people who never come pick the parts up. We waste time calling and calling letting them know its here for nothing. Luckily, I don't have to pay to ship them back, but I do have to sit on them until my parts representative comes every 5 weeks for returns. I am the one looking up parts for people while I am out running jobs and some days its nonstop calls about parts. If you want to pay Amazon prices, then you should probably go to Amazon. Those are aftermarket parts and we sell mostly all OEM parts outside of a few select ERP brand for Samsung dryers. The Amazon aftermarkets are not even branded in most cases and are not reliable. Our OEM part pricing is comparable to other online retailers if not lower at times. We are a repair business first and foremost. We don't have to sell anyone parts, we barely make any money on parts sales as it is,, but we choose to do so to help out where we can because times are hard for a lot of folks. I go out of my way to meet people to sell them the parts. I've even dropped them off if I saw I was close to a house for another service call. Please show a little respect for your local businesses. Most of us aren't getting rich out here and are trying to get by the best we can like everyone else. I know some will complain well this business or that business didn't show up etc. We show up and try to be cognizant of others time as well. On a few rare occasions our system has glitched and we missed a job or it went into the wrong category, but nothing is intentional. We are all human and mistakes happen. I do appreciate all the business and support we have received over the years.

Thank you,

Bryan

Defrost issue I ran today. The evaporator coils were frozen over due to a faulty defrost thermostat. The defrost thermostat acts as a safety in case your defrost heater becomes stuck on. It opens and closes depending on temperature. When the thermostat is stuck open, you end up with a frost buildup that blocks airflow and affects temperatures throughout the fridge as well as the ice maker function. I already started thawing this out when I took the picture. I carry a whirlpool harness for a slightly older model that I can use the defrost thermostat off of it because Whirlpool makes us order the fan motor assembly that comes with a harness that includes the defrost thermostat. Doing it the way I did saved the customer $60 on parts cost.

I was out for a dispenser dripping issue on a Frigidaire French door refrigerator. When I went to replace the water valve, I noticed the back cover seemed unsually warm. Once I removed the panel, I then noticed the condenser fan motor blade wasn't even hooked onto the motor. Easy fix. Reattached the blade and made sure it was securely on the motor shaft. That motor not operating correctly can cause the compressor to run hot causing shorter component life span and also makes the fridge run inefficient. It also causes it not to freeze as low as it should in a lot of cases. Lastly, it can make the water lines become brittle, and they will leak possibly causing floor damage. All prevented by finding a small issue while repairing the main issue I was there to repair. One thing I always do is try to catch other issues at hand while I am there for a service call. It may cost me another repair down the road, but it saves the customer another unnecessary cost by taking care of it the while I am already in the home. Bringing value to my service is more important to me than ignoring an upcoming issue that would result in more cost to the customer. A lot times I fix small things that the customer doesn't notice if I don't point it out. One thing that drives me crazy is loose refrigerator door handles. People ignore them being loose and they can fully detach off the door and can scratch the door in the process. Thank you all for your continued support πŸ™‚

GE above the range microwave repair. The complaint was the whole microwave display and lights would go out intermittently. I found this connector burnt up on that thermal fuse. Replaced the fuse and the wire terminal. Since I had to cut the plastic sleeve off, I covered the new terminal in fiberglass heat resistant electrical tape. Microwave is now heating and operating properly.

Here we had a noise complaint on a Maytag dryer. The blower wheel was stripped. There's a metal sleeve in the middle of the plastic wheel and the plastic strips off that metal sleeve. Not only does this make noise, but it also causes drying issues as this wheel is what pushes the air full of moisture outside. The reason that wheel is broken up is because thats how I remove the wheel off so I can access that metal sleeve to remove it off the motor assembly.

Hello folks,

I am going to cover something that a lot of you may not be fully be aware of going on and this may become long winded. Many of you have heard of certain companies that claim to be able to hook you up with local pros in your area for whatever professional service that your need. These are lead generation companies that essentially have a very shady type of business plan. You typically see fake business websites showing up on google searches and even sometimes fake google business listings. For example this website comes up under Inwood WV appliance repair: https://www.reliable-appliance-service.com/location/inwood-wv This company says its out of Oakland CA claiming to be a company in our area. There are many other fake websites like this all over for many different business services not only appliance repair. These are either scammers or they are lead generation companies trying to get you to call them so they can in turn sell leads to actual businesses in your area. Some folks can see through this fake stuff, but a lot of the older generation doesn't really know better. Some of the business listings on google look very legit as well as some of the websites. Do you homework and vet who you have coming out to your home, business, or whatever because these types of fake profiles are only going to get worse with all of the AI which is Artificial Intelligence for some who may not know exactly what that means. Please let the less tech savvy folks in your life aware of all of these types of scams and shady practices that are out there. The fake business profiles and websites weren't as heavy in this area as they are in the bigger cities, but it is coming this way and people need to be on the look out. We need people to be reporting as much of this stuff as they come across to have these fake google business profiles taken down as much as possible because it is can take business away from real companies and its hurts our businesses. I don't know of much that can be done about the fake websites, but google has been cracking down on fake business listings. Unfortunately, that makes it harder for legitimate business listings because sometimes they get taken down since google loves AI as well and may take someone down by accident who is a legit business. I 100% believe one of these lead gen companies had a listing in our area and it was bothering me because they were claiming to be open 24 hours. What that means is that when the rest of us are closed they show up at the top of Google and potentially could be stealing work away from me as well as others in the area. They will typically sell leads off to foreign run businesses out of Northern VA/ DC metro area and you may get ripped off or you may get someone who knows what they are doing. Its a roll of the dice at that point. With that being said we are unusually slow this time of year. It may be because of rising fuel costs, may be because of lead gen companies stealing work, but if anyone needs our assistance with any appliance repairs please reach as we have some openings this week that still need filled. Summer is coming and we usually get pretty slammed, so now is the time for those repairs.

Thank you,

Bryan
